I superimposed two photographs of the 400 block of East Grace, one of my favorite streets in Richmond. Old marquis cling to Grace’s storefronts, including the blue “Dickerson Shoes” sign. Next to the former shoe store is a three-story building, which once appeared as a pet store in a movie set. “Madison Ave. Pet Shop” has a facade of iron scrollwork and bas-relief. I dream of purchasing and giving a second life to this building — as my own coffee shop.
